(And given the political climate they don't dare invite additional regulatory scrutiny by barring side loading. They are evil ... but not completely clueless.) Google reportedly cleared 250,000 TREES in Finland for a data centre without the environmental impact assessment required by law. Finnish authorities ordered Google to halt construction, but the damage has already been done. What was once a forest has been turned into a muddy field. Google seems to have labeled The Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com/) a deceptive website. Right before the US election. Interesting “mistake,” no? I used the “deceptive website link” to paste the URL into a text editor - it was The Guardian’s URL, not the URL that the report deceptive website report listed - and I was able to read the article in #The_Guardian #Google needs to answer for this deception.

#Google is killing itself Most of Google income comes from AdWords, aka selling advertisements that are displayed on websites Many people used Google to search for a website, go there and maybe click on an ad or increase the ad views Nowadays Google rips info people are looking for from the websites and displays it in their "AI summary" while taking away website visits and therefor advertisements clicks and views Not even speaking about the costs of AI What are they smoking at HQ Google..

The beauty of #Mozilla coming out against regulating #Google because they depend on the money Google pays them is that we're only a few years away from them saying that we can't regulate #AI companies for the very same reason - "The AI #LLM companies pay us, and wouldn't it be a pity if #firefox went away if you regulate them?" Mozilla now seems to want to entrench the worst of the web, as long as they get a cut of the proceeds.
