today's experience with #ClaudeCode where I literally have to scream (yes, wrote many AAAAA's in the terminal). claude: Okay, now you need to write this very long command, I copied it to your clipboard, review it and press !, then Ctrl+V, then Enter. Me: AAAAAAA! so you could copy commands to my freaking clipboard and have never ever done this in my whole AI life? So you know what I did? Virtualized JAWS window. Searched for the command. Swore, because it's multiline. Asked you to condense it in one line. Went back to virtualize JAWS window. Searched. copied. Pasted. And you could just copy the whole thing in my clipboard? AAAAA! 🤯 claude: sorry sorry, I'll put it in my memory now. Moral of the fable: Claude can actually put long commands to your clipboard. and if you're blind (or prefer this interaction independently of your sight), instruct Claude to copy all the commands, especially longer ones, to your clipboard. #AI #TIL #TipsAndTricks

This post on the MIT CSAIL blog really upset me today. It's a fascinating and potentially important finding that throws doubt into many assumptions about how deep learning works, but it's claims are hyperbolic and anthropomorphizing to the point of being unscientific. Here they show that a particular LLM could do several "neat tricks" in interpreting, modifying, and generating the weights for another neural network. This result is extraordinary, because these weights are notoriously unintelligable, and generally can only be set by arduous, expensive training processes. I'm genuinely shocked that this works (assuming it replicates). This could have profound consequences for all sorts of things, from efficiency, to development, and interpretability. What they did not do is show that LLMs can understand weights, read and write them, or optimize them using reasoning. #science #llm #ai (1/2)

Google reportedly cleared 250,000 TREES in Finland for a data centre without the environmental impact assessment required by law. Finnish authorities ordered Google to halt construction, but the damage has already been done. What was once a forest has been turned into a muddy field.
