#code

I have two panasonic TVs and cannot find any of the remotes. Online remote code databases gave bupkis and my generic universal remote has battery juice poisoning. So I bought this $4 clone of the original remote, and it’s perfect. I put the codes in the review if you need them or HMU for the CSV. Heck, have em now. (Do not buy a panasonic smart TV if you don’t already have one, their apps are abandonware and will stop working. Yes, I do know smart TVs are altogether evil.) https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mLwFygf #code,function 0xbd3d00802002,power 0x22ab09802002,sd card 0xb23002802002,input tv 0x850500802002,input av 0xd25200802002,menu 0x5ade04802002,aspect 0x8c0c00802002,n 0x8909802002,direct tv rec 0xb93900802002,i 0x53d300802002,unk1 0x38b109802002,viera link 0x6fef00802002,viera tools 0xe8709802002,guide 0xca4a00802002,up 0xcf4f00802002,right 0xcb4b00802002,down 0xce4e00802002,left 0xc94900802002,ok 0x2ea709802002,option 0x54d400802002,return 0xf07000802002,red 0xf17100802002,green 0xf27200802002,yellow 0xf37300802002,blue 0x820301802002,text 0x840501802002,sttl 0x890801802002,index 0x880901802002,hold 0x901000802002,1 0x911100802002,2 0x921200802002,3 0x931300802002,4 0x941400802002,5 0x951500802002,6 0x961600802002,7 0x971700802002,8 0x981800802002,9 0xb23200802002,mute 0x991900802002,0 0xb73700802002,last view 0xa02000802002,volup 0xa12100802002,voldown 0xb43400802002,chanup 0xb53500802002,chandown 0x8d3d00b02002,auxpower 0x853500b02002,progdown 0x843400b02002,progup 0xf94900b02002,rewind 0xba0a00b02002,play 0xfa4a00b02002,forward 0xb00000b02002,stop 0xb60600b02002,pause 0xb80800b02002,record

18/ The commentary cites another study (randomized controlled trial involving #SoftwareEngineers, still preprint ahead of #PeerReview) [6] to "investigate whether skills are being lost in the field of #ComputerScience" [4] This early study appears to suggest how #genAI-assisted "participants did particularly poorly on questions that required them to diagnose #errors in the code, which suggests that they had failed to learn the concepts behind the #code that they had just produced"

I’ve never been a Digital Ocean customer. But they’re really taking a nose dive right now. First, they offer healthy financial support for the fascist Linux project, otherwise known as Omarchy. Now they’re killing one of the best CSS resources around, @csstricks@mastodon.social. How are they killing it? Well, they’re giving SO much money to fascism that they can no longer afford the small potatoes of a CSS community knowledge base. As @eric@social.ericwbailey.website points out, so many of us front-end developers are indebted to CSS Tricks. The authors there have been invaluable to my own skillset. https://ericwbailey.website/published/css-tricks-could-be-a-co-op It’s painful to see this kind of thing happening. I hate fascism and death by capitalism. #DigitalOcean #Omarchy #CSSTricks #CSS #HTML #FrontEnd #Code #Development #Design #Hosting #Capitalism #Fascism

Updated #introduction: I'm a senior research software engineer at the Institutional Data Initiative at the Harvard Law School Library. I think about data and ML and NLP, mostly in service of libraries and knowledge institutions. I used to be a research scientist at ICERM working in theoretical and computational number theory. I still think about math and computation and would be happy to talk more about it. I usually write either #python or #cpp and I like talking about #data or #code or #libraries (as in books, or as in #opensource).

A use-after-free bug in #Linux's #SCTP #networking #code can be turned into full #root on a host, and #Tencent researchers say they used it to escape a #container and reach the machine underneath. The flaw has existed since 2008. The fix already shipped: stable kernels 7.1.6, 6.18.42, 6.12.101 and 6.6.148, released August 3, close it. Anyone running an older kernel with SCTP reachable should update.

@erinaceus@chaos.social Right. It really depends on the job in hand. For simple and obvious fixes, just a few #test cases might be enough. For a larger feature or one with lots of tricky edge conditions, I might write tens or hundreds. Occasionally (for things like numeric rounding or date-formatting near boundary conditions or line-wrapping UTF-8 text) I'll write a #Perl script to autogenerate some of them. I don't use an #LLM to write tests for the same reason that I don't ask QA to write the tests for me: I have a deeper understanding of how the code works, the problems and bugs I encountered while writing it, and sometimes the bugs that a future maintainer might allow to slip in. I do ask #QA to review the tests to make sure I've not missed anything. Knowing that a review is coming helps to keep me honest. I have a fairly radical view that the tests are almost more important than the shipping #code, because a good set of tests enables you to overhaul and improve the code in ways that would otherwise be too dangerous. Lack of tests leads to small, timid localised fixes, which leads to a dense thicket of special cases, which leads to an unmaintainable codebase that eventually has to be thrown away. If you don't have decent tests then, sooner or later, you won't have a product. @icing@chaos.social

All free software maintainers will be randomly assigned a local user. You must go to their house and watch them install your rust crate, python wheel, flatpak and you must watch them use it all the way through. If they like it you will be given a cup of tea. Library maintainers will be assigned a nearby junior developer and script writers will be assigned a fresh faced junior admin. I don't make the rules, this is just the law now. #foss #oss #code #design #ux

Would you trust your data to these chuckle heads? Researchers throw a giant red flag on Grok Build. When Grok Build reads or processes a file, the contents of that file were transmitted without redaction to a Google Cloud Storage bucket used by SpaceXAI. They also found that Grok Build packages entire repos and uploads them as Git bundles. Users also report an entire user directory, containing SSH keys, password manager databases, and more, were opened and uploaded. These uploads have now been stopped. https://www.theregister.com/ai-and-ml/2026/07/14/musk-promises-purge-after-grok-build-caught-sending-entire-repos-to-the-cloud/5271123 #Software #Code #Coding #GrokBuild #Repos #DataPrivacy #Data
