Fresh exploration of a self-hosted instance, fresh #introduction. I’m Serra, a #MagicTheGathering player, an #Elixir programmer, an aspiring enthusiast of #Matrix and Spritely. I recently got into a kick of improving some basic systems in my life, evidence will eventually show if I’m just shaving yaks. I’ve been trying to migrate from vscode to #emacs, and I’ve taken up on #Obsidian. Currently living at @jump_spider@floofy.tech as well, I may migrate that account to this one if all goes as planned.

Hi, I'm Tom, one of the people building PrunePad: team chat with six AI agents in the room. Mention one and it takes notes, summarises a thread, translates or drafts. Its replies are marked as AI. So, the @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu has rolled out @element@mastodon.matrix.org chat as a backup system to their default #Teams for the 33k officials. One official defended the new #Matrix-based system on an internal chat, according to Politico, by saying Teams wasn't as secure because "all we have is a guarantee that #Microslop [sic!] will not peek inside," and how can anyone not love that official. #DigitalSovereignty #DigitalSecurity #e2ee

#Homeassistant i jego powiadomienia: via #matrix czy #signal? Miałem Signal ale cały czas jest problem z utrzymaniem konta i numeru telefonu (koszty), natomiast matrix cały czas mam wrażenie (bardzo subiektywne!) że jest takim nie do końca zaufanym. Oczywiście mówię o zewnętrznym serwerze, nie własnym. Jak Wy macie to rozwiązane?

Matrix server feature differences? (aka Which server software to choose?) Are there ressources that help you find the right Matrix server software in 2026? There’s Conduit, continuwuity, Tuwunel and Synapse, but what are the differences between them? Which one should I choose when all I want is a homeserver that allows E2EE, federation (optional), voice calls, screen sharing, reliable mobile notifications and that ideally isn’t a ressource hog (aka what people say about Synapse)?

In half an hour, I'll give a talk at #FediDay explaining the #Matrix protocol. It will be in German as there's a large interest for open, privacy-preserving tech amongst German-speaking people. One focus will be the differences between ActivityPub, the protocol that powers the Fediverse, and Matrix.
