URGENT. PLEASE BOOST FOR ME! I hate asking, fedi friends. I'm disabled and chronically ill and live below the poverty line, and am unfortunately unable to cover basic groceries and my Internet bill this week. Being disabled and often bedridden, online is my connection with the outside world for a whole variety of reasons including mental health. I can't do without it. The premise behind the anti-#trans sentiment is that men would endure years of hormone treatment, social stigma, and even surgery, just to visit a public bathroom and pee in a closed stall next to another stall with a woman inside. That is the dumbest premise for hatred I have ever heard. Those who transition do so because, after years of consideration, they have realized this is their only viable path to becoming their true selves. Respect that.

The language we use is more important than most people give it credit for. Language shapes how people interact with things. Ignoring a "preference" is easier and given much more social grace than ignoring a "fact", for example #trans #transgender #queer #lgbt #lgbtq #lgbtqia
