Meta/Facebook's own oversight board finds that... #Meta interfered against #Lula to favour right wing #Bolsanaro in #Brazil elections. The oversight board found Meta had excessively used anti-fraud policies against Lula's ad accounts. The failure, the body says, "should have been escalated to an internal team of expert reviewers". https://www.oversightboard.com/news/oversight-board-statement-on-protecting-election-integrity-on-metas-platforms/ #democracy #TechFascism

Activism is actually about behind the scenes work. The Lula victory makes me think of all the organisers who must have worked their arses off to get this idea across the line. Activism is not just the rally, it is also everything before and after. Think of the activists and organisers in these next few days, who are doing their best every day. We take a lot for granted here in Australia, where voting is compulsory. Please get out and vote. #activism #socialism #lula #brasil #brazil

There are reports from cities across the country of public transportation operating with a reduced fleet (which should be the weekday fleet), the subway shut down, and buses either not running or skipping stops. Flights to regions such as the Northeast (Lula’s electoral stronghold) have also been delayed since yesterday, and there are people arriving at polling places only to discover that a vote has already been cast in their name somehow. All of this is a ploy by Bolsonaro’s allies across the country. They are trying to prevent people from voting in order to reduce Lula’s chances of winning. Lula has already asked the electoral court to grant Brazilians more time to vote, since under normal circumstances voting would end now at 5 p.m. Some reports have already been confirmed, others warrant investigation, but all are serious allegations. PS.: the Superior Electoral Court is currently presided over by two of Bolsonaro’s allies, who have already been accused of bias during this election. Update: brazillians now have 2 more hours to vote. #Brazil #elections #Lula #brPol
