New Details of Rape Allegation Against Trump Revealed in House Democrats’ Epstein Report Beatrice Keul, a model and former Miss Switzerland, alleged to Judiciary Committee staff that she was raped by Trump in a Plaza Hotel suite in Manhattan when she was 24. Keul said that while attending the American Dream Pageant, which had a partnership with Trump, she met with Trump at a press luncheon at the event.  Trump, according to Keul, promised to arrange her visa in the U.S. and ensure her acceptance into New York University through his friend Paolo Zampolli, a close Trump ally who was, until earlier this month, part of his Administration. At the same event, she also spent at least 10 minutes talking to Epstein who she said claimed to have organized “many parties with Don.” Later that day, Keul alleges, Trump invited her to a hotel suite where Trump “grabbed Keul from behind and forcibly raped her,” causing “bleeding and bruising on multiple parts of her body,” the report says. Following the incident, Keul alleges Trump made her promise she would keep quiet and repeated his promise for visa and college admission. Because Keul’s passport had been taken from her on her arrival, she was not able to leave the contest following the incident, she alleges, according to the report. After she returned to Switzerland, she declined to participate in an additional Trump-sponsored pageant in Hawaii several weeks later.

No word on what voters have been saying to soon-to-be-Speaker Jeffries. Jeffries on Wednesday dismissed the idea, however, that Democrats would impeach the president, as some liberals want to do. “I haven’t had a single member of the House Democratic Caucus talk to me about impeachment,” he said. “We’ve been relentlessly focused on affordability, and on accountability.” https://thehill.com/homenews/6198897-jeffries-ribs-johnson-midterms/ #election #politics #uspol #trump

As we creep up on the end of the year, I'm creating an #introduction post because .. apparently I didn't have one :) I'm Dawgeth aka Matt. I'm a husband, dad, software architect, engineering manager, tinkerer, gamer, and generally curious person who has a hard time leaving well enough alone. A few things you'll find me talking about: #Technology - Software architecture, engineering, automation, and figuring out how things work. #Linux - Self-hosting, homelabs, open source, and running services just because I can. #Gaming - Steam, GOG, Xbox, and more .. I bounce around a lot! #Programming - Building little projects, experimenting with new ideas, and occasionally turning a five-minute problem into a weekend project. #Politics - Hanging out on the left, progressive, interested in local government, civic engagement, and making things a little better for everyone. #Community - Building spaces where people feel welcome, whether that's online, in the neighborhood, or around a table. #Makers - Small business adventures, creative projects, crafting, and supporting people who make things with their hands. #Gardening - Growing food, learning as I go, and maintaining the illusion that I know what I'm doing in the garden. #Family - A big family, a busy household, and plenty of reasons to appreciate the little things. I'm a firm believer that curiosity is a pretty good way to spend a life. I have too many interests, too many projects, and probably too many browser tabs open. Happy to meet new people, exchange ideas, talk shop, or just enjoy the occasional bit of internet nonsense. Here's to another year of figuring things out!

There are a lot of things Dems should do for the next two years, but one of the most important is to pass bills that we need even if Trump vetoes them. Make the GOP publicly vote against what people actually want over and over, against the bills and against overriding Trump's vetoes. Then the Dem presidential candidate in 2028 can point at all the bills and say "Congress will pass all these laws again when I'm president, and I'll sign them all." And then they should do that too. #politics #USPol

New Evidence Allegedly Ties Trump to 11 Sexual Assaults Related to Epstein The House Judiciary Committee Democrats have released a trove of evidence regarding allegations of sexual assault, including a new rape allegation, against President Donald Trump in relation to Jeffrey Epstein that the lawmakers say has been deliberately covered up by the Department of Justice. The 50-page report, released Monday, contains testimony from 11 women who either accuse Trump of rape or sexual assault or say that they had been offered to Trump for sex by Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell, with most cases happening in the 1990s. The accounts were pulled together through interviews conducted by the committee, as well as FBI records and the portion of the Epstein files that have been released; the evidence was cross-referenced for timelines and corroboration of testimony between alleged victims. In all, the evidence sharply contrasts Trump’s claims that he was merely an acquaintance of Epstein, and instead paints a picture of Trump as a serial sexual assault perpetrator who collaborated closely with Epstein to find and traffic victims. …

The Civil Rights Act of 1965 helped pave the way for Black voters, the beginning of dismantling Jim Crow. But, it took a long time. It wasn't a magic law, just like Brown vs. The Board of Education didn't automatically desegregate the schools. But, 1965. Think about how long ago that was, not too long after I was born. I came along just a few days after the famous "I Have a Dream" speech during the historic March on Washington. Fast forward to now, where voter suppression in Georgia is still a thing, and Stacey Abrams has fought like hell to defeat most of it. And yet. And yet. We now have a Black woman as our Governor! That's earth-shattering change that only took almost my entire life to happen. Keisha Lance-Bottoms busted right through that glass ceiling, showering us with tiny sparkling grains, shining like diamonds in the bright new day. The future begins now. #USPol #US #Politics #Election #USElection

US Senate score: Democrats have flipped 5 seats, giving them a total of 50 of 100. 2 of the seats still in play are rated by #APNews as "Lean Democratic". The MI and ME are still counting. Both states are known to count votes slowly. Republicans have flipped no seats. #politics #USPol
