There are so many things that I hate about the new driver's licence in Alberta. Putting aside the most egregious parts, like having citizenship there for what other reason than making voting harder and discrimination easier, two aesthetic things have changed:

  1. Where is the dinosaur that everyone loved so much? And why the heck do I have an oil derrick in its place??

  2. I was planning to never need to get a car license plate to avoid this stupid Alberta Strong and Free slogan but guess what? You can't avoid it. It's right there on the back of your licence. 🤢

@26pglt@mastodon.au I mostly agree. There is quite a lot that can be done to make our roads safer and to teach driving to much better standards. I don’t want to make this a long toot (it’s a habit I have) and if there is intertest out there I am happy to carry on with this conversation. One beef I have is you: ”There’s lots of bad drivers out there, esp among those who’ve been driving for ages.” This is really not helpful and easily falsifiable given the large amount of *variables* and *circumstances* which lead to kind of statistics collected as evidence. I could just as easily assert that P platers are the worst #drivers on the road and might even cite some stats to back it up. But #stats are only as good as the #assumptions on which they are based. I consider the level of #DrivingSchool instructions to be awfully bad. For example, take a look at the differences between a young adult undergoing instruction for their #motorcycle licence against another going through driving school for a #car licence (NOTE: This is in #Australia, I don’t know about other countries). One will be better at #Roadcraft then the other when there should be no difference. #RoadSafety #DriverCompetencies #DrivingLicence #RidingLicence #DrivingStandards #DriverTraining #LicenceRequirements #Testing #RoadStats

Oops! Overlooked new NFB of #NVIDIA #GPU #drivers 610.43.03 (previous one was 610.43."02"!) for 2 weeks... Filed Bug296950 for upgrading -devel variants https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=296950 and opened corresponding review D58375 for #FreeBSD #ports. https://reviews.freebsd.org/D58375 Anyway, seems to be a minor upgrade. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/274185/ Same Release Highlights for Linux counterpart. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/274183/

Why Drawing Tablet Brands Won't Collaborate on Linux FLOSS Drivers After investigation; Gaomon, XpPen, and Huion won't collaborate on open-source drivers because of outdated naming conventions. Here's what I learned from direct contact with their technical teams, and what I plan to do to move forward.
