🚻🚾 #Westminster City Council has reopened refurbished public toilets at the Grade II listed Piccadilly Circus Underground Station, the third site completed under a £12.7m programme to upgrade eight facilities across the West End.
The works include modernised male and female toilets, a family changing room and baby-changing areas, alongside structural, drainage and waterproofing improvements and new fire safety systems. The subterranean site at Exit 1 has been updated to extend its lifespan and meet current standards.
A new artwork by London artist James Lambert features hand-drawn designs on handmade tiles, inspired by Anteros and the area’s Art Deco and entertainment heritage.
FM Conway led the project with Hugh Broughton Architects and Harley Haddow. Further refurbishments are planned at Green Park, Carnaby Street, Westminster Bridge, Covent Garden and Leicester Square.
