“The tech leaders who once hailed AI use as the key to unlocking every employee’s full potential are now changing their tune. This includes Shopify cofounder and CEO Tobias Lütke. He told employees last year that using AI is “a baseline expectation,” and they should first prove they “cannot get what they want done using AI” before asking for more resources. He’s now saying Shopify employees are producing unexamined emails and code with AI and not taking responsibility for the sloppy output.”” You got what you asked for (and rewarded), Tobias, lmao. This is 100% on executives and leaders. They should be held accountable for making the shitty decision of destroying employee morale by threatening to replace them with the slop machine. PS: Also, Tobias Lütke is an oligarch techbro who doesn’t want poor people to vote, so double fuck off to him. #ai #slop #bubble “Shopify CEO says employees’ ‘slop grenades’ are making more work for everyone else”

The underlying finances are why the artificial intelligence industry and the media are spewing a continuous stream of silly stories about the apocalypse and mathematics discoveries and artificial intelligence taking over all the jobs and this that and the other. You do not attract investors by honestly saying that you have yearly doubling multi-billion dollar losses. #ai #bubble

I learned that the Great Depression’s first decisive symptom of systemic failure was the stock market crash of 1929, but the bank failures that would affect the normal investor didn’t happen until 1933, a full four years later. The recent subprime crisis started in early 2007 but didn’t cause Lehman Bros to collapse and TARP to be signed until late 2008. There have been some who theorize that the #AI bubble burst will be similarly slow-rolling. But I think it’ll be more rapid than that, because a lot more people have money in the stock market today, and because there are probably a couple trillion dollars in deals that will literally evaporate overnight if OpenAI or Anthropic has cashflow problems, which are directly tied to GDP growth numbers. I think the shockwave will travel through the system in months, not years. #ai #bubble #pop

" The Bank for International Settlements has warned that an AI bust could hit credit markets as hard as 2008, precisely because so much of the buildout runs through debt and circular deals. Those interlocking arrangements are what unsettle regulators. When chipmakers, cloud providers and model developers invest in one another, a stumble at any one node can ripple outward, and the exposure is harder to see from the outside." https://thenextweb.com/news/a-fed-official-is-asking-whether-ai-is-becoming-too-big-to-fail #AI #Economics #Bubble #TooBigToFail #Banks

#Regensburg #scam #ponzi #bubble #crash

This is one of the signals I've been watching for!

A Prominent AI Investor Is Now Crumbling, in What Could Be a Sign of Things to Come. https://futurism.com/artificial-intelligence/situational-awareness-ai-investor-crumbling

Situational Awareness, a much-hyped AI hedge-fund … basically imploded over this month amid a mass tech sell-off … it’s now down 67 percent … forcing Aschenbrenner to desperately seek clients to buy its shares on the cheap to cover its losses.

I like Cory Doctorow's blogs and also this one, https://pluralistic.net/2026/07/24/supplemental-income/ But he is wrong in one of the first sentences in my view. "As a technology, AI isn't exceptional. It's not exceptionally wicked. It's not exceptionally good. ". The reason why the impact of GenAI is big is because it is "exceptionally good" in some (!) fields/aspects. If that was not the case there would be no hype, no nobel price etc. At the same time his remarks about the bubble good to read and think about. #AI #bubble

@cora@hachyderm.io @redshiftdrift@universeodon.com @Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange I agree. I think the #AI #bubble will be a cascade of multiple interdependent streams of stresses, faults and failures; in aggregate, a bubble. My question is what do you think sets it off? Will there be a single precipitating event or multiple? When I think back to the “Expert Systems” boom of the late 1980’s to 90’s it was the broad realization by companies that maintaining the knowledge base of an expert system could be more difficult and costly than assumed, and with more uncertainty of success: things got harder, not easier. All it took was a few prominent horror stories and the rush for the exits began. This could be a possibility with LLMs as well. (“Model drift” may be a similar situation.) I foresee major problems ahead due to the growing mismatch of general expectations about today’s LLMs and what they can actually deliver due to the technology itself. For example, LLMs are fundamentally about mimicking human-like behaviors and like any mimicry, it can be hilarious or cringe-worthy. My fear is that some idiot will put the tech in the control loop of a life-critical system and the result will be a mass casualty event. It may not even be a problem that generalizes across many applications — dramatic failures affect everyone because the perception of risk is more important than the actual risk. Today, risk assessment and decisions about using massive economic resources for AI-ish systems are not well justified and will not survive a reality check. The result will be another rush for the exits.

Is the bubble already popping in Asia? Or is this just a preview?

South Korean Authorities Scrambling to Save Stock Market From #AI #Bubble. https://futurism.com/future-society/south-korea-stock-panic-kopsi-kosdaq-circuit-breaker

Across July 28 and 29, Seoul Economic Daily reports widespread panic triggered not just one but two “circuit breakers” on the Korea Exchange, a sort of automated kill switch that halts regular trading for 30 minutes so panic-stricken traders can gather their thoughts.

Analysis of current outstanding investment MBS (Mortgage Backed Securities) debt showing huge losses (in the hundreds of billions) from 2022 to present.

US might be sitting on a TIME BOMB!! https://albygetho.substack.com/p/us-might-be-sitting-on-a-time-bomb

The greatest financial risk from the current #AI investment cycle is unlikely to come from a single company defaulting. Instead, it may emerge through a gradual deterioration in the credit chain that has developed around AI infrastructure.
