@Shawn_Brink@techhub.social Yes #IPv6 . Now North America just needs to sort their shit out and get on the IPv6 train. Even AWS has learned that IPv6 is needed.

Let's start at the #DNS. Obviously, the root is fully dual-stack, but what about the TLDs?
Overall, that's not terrible: only 18 of the 1,436 TLDs have only IPv4-only NS records in the root zone, although 240 TLDs have at least one IPv4-only NS.
But for the top 1M _second-level_ domains, this already drops down and only around 72% of them have at least one IPv6-enabled NS.

Nick Buraglio opened his CHI-NOG 13 talk with “one of my jobs is taking IPv4 out of the network.” ESnet has run IPv6-only in production since 2018, and Google's adoption graph crosses 50% on weekends now, when everyone's home on residential broadband. We've (finally) roadmapped IPv6 support for www.bbc.co.uk & www.bbc.com!
Via the same workstream, we'll also support v6 on BBC Account (login) and more (maybe all) of media (iPlayer and Sounds) plus our mediation layer.
Yeah I know it's 2026 and others have been doing v6 for aaaaages but we had some awkward blockers and coordination between www and media to sort out.
No firm timelines yet but I'm expecting it to be in the first half of 2027 assuming no delays 🤞🏻

@oxy@social.bsdlab.au It literally took a 4 hour workshop with @stucchimax@social.secret-wg.org for me to understand #IPv6 in depth so WTF is it taking so long for full-time Network Operators that are 'certed' to the eyeballs to understand v6???

@oxy@social.bsdlab.au Yeah, the older tunnels are just not where they need to be for #IPv6, they were invented before ratification. Like the address space, some technology we need to move on from, to a) reduce tech debt, b) use modern, flexible technology designed for the address space to solve the problems.
But you already knew that :-)

Bell Mobile has #IPv6 but not their broadband land service, for some reason;
EBOX & Cogeco claim to have v6 working but I can't check on them atm;
In QC, Videotron has v6 but, for some another reason, you have to file a ticket and ask them to fix it not working out-of-the-box.

Are there any internet providers in #Vancouver that support #IPv6?
My ISP seems to be stuck in "Coming soon" state, and I can't seem to find any documentation or marketing for other providers that say they provide IPv6... maybe I am not looking hard enough 😂

Please boost for visibility! If you are running a #Mikrotik router or switch, upgrade it now. Right now. The fixed releases are 7.23.4 (long-term), 7.24.2 (stable) and 6.49.21. If you are running a version less than that, there are multiple entrypoints for a complete unauthenticated remote code authentication.
This is as bad as it gets, upgrade and reboot now. Yes, you'll have an outage for a few minutes, but it's better than the alternative.

Hey #IPv6 folks: If I do NOT have a /64 assigned to me and only have a single IPv6 assigned, am I better off adding fd00::/7 addresses to the jails and then NAT'ing to them like I do with the IPv4 addresses?
I don't think I have any other kind of choice here.
