"Hello world" for a first post is boring, so here's a little about me and what to expect on my profile :) (Spoiler: mainly infodumps on whatever it is I am working on) Currently doing research at Northeastern, working on firmware fuzzing and embedded systems security at CactiLab. Previously molecular dynamics at PsiThera, systems/security research at UMass Amherst (thesis was Rust vs C++ performance at the assembly level). Interested in OS internals, compilers, RE, and anything low-level and hard to debug. Write occasionally at skushagra.com Excited to be here, and thank you so much if you notice <3 #introduction #systems #embedded

Testing the code of a newly written HAL is an essential but tedious, not to mention recurring, part of our work; so Vivian and @tamme@fosstodon.org developed a PoC for a universal test suite! The next one in the #peoplebehindosco series is Felix. Hi @Gronner@infosec.exchange 👋 Felix is a software engineer with more than 10 years experience in the automotive and medical industry. Working at XITASO he focuses on building secure and safe systems. Besides that he provides trainings on security, safety, software architecture and Rust. To learn in and with a community he organises the SWEC and is a member of the iSAQB. He loves learning by exploring: building small embedded system or tools, mostly in Rust. In his spare time he enjoys playing pen & paper games, miniature figure painting and playing the drums. His Tags: #AppSec, #Embedded, #Rust, #ThreatModeling Thank you very much for your work as a volunteer and your support in organizing the Open Security conference. Stay tuned and follow the hashtag #peoplebehindosco for more people behind osco.

Embedded systems mean tradeoffs: tight memory, no OS, hardware that won't forgive a mistake. Rust's pitch here isn't to "start over" — it's what happens once Rust enters an existing system one module, one driver, one UI layer at a time, without a rewrite. At Oxidize 2026: workshops on adding Rust to existing C code and on osdyne, a Rust embedded OS. Talks on bare-metal UI with no OS, and shipping a Rust RTOS in production. Meet SOMA — an ultra-small (12x13mm) ATmega32U4 USB-HID keystroke injection device designed for physical security assessments and hardware hacking. Protrudes only ~1.5mm from a USB port for a flush, covert footprint. Fully open-source schematics & firmware: https://github.com/nebojsa-sjekloca/soma First batch is now live on Tindie: https://www.tindie.com/products/42127/ #RedTeam #HardwareHacking #BadUSB #Infosec #OpenSource #Pentesting #Embedded

The M5Stack Tab5 Hot on the heels of my ESP32 display detour–which went from Cydintosh to Flying Toasters on an ESP32-S3 and then, inevitably, R-Type–I ended up with an M5Stack Tab5 on my desk as a(...) #electronics #embedded #emulation #esp32 #hardware #iot #m5stack #reviews #riscv

https://www.amd.com/en/products/software/adaptive-socs-and-fpgas/vivado/vivado-licensing-options.html I'm being told that this years update removes Linux Desktop support from the free-tier. It also creates a new tier "GOLD" that is the only tier that doesn't enforce mandatory telemetry! 🤦‍♀️ 🤦 🤦‍♂️ Important: All subscription tiers of AMD Vivado™ and the AMD Vivado™ Enterprise edition includes tools telemetry turned on by default. Only customers with a GOLD license will have the option to turn tools telemetry OFF. https://docs.amd.com/r/en-US/ug973-vivado-release-notes-install-license/AMD-Information-Center I am really enjoying Lattice products and anything supported under APIO and YoSys these days. #embedded #hardware
