I'm in the wrong bubble, but boosting might help. 🙏 My wife is new to #weaving. After #spinning the on her #spinningwheel and coloring it herself, she spent much time #warping the #loom. And now it doesn't work as expected. 😩 The problem is, that the space between upper and lower warp thread (marked red in one of the photos) seems to be too small. The heddle pushes the lower thread up. See description in Alt-Text. We bought the loom second hand, and nobody here is an expert. Can anybody help?

From seed to yarn. What a special process. It’s easy to take for granted the amount of processing and labor required for even the most basic item you casually use in the course of your day. Consider toilet paper, for example 😂 I finished plying some yarn last night which is the end of my process—except now I’m considering using the yarn for #weaving. I’m not sure why it hadn’t occurred to me before because I collect woven textiles and love the craft. #FiberArts #Fibers #HandSpinning #Spinning

@weaving@fedigroups.social @fiberarts@fedigroups.social De-stash project I’ve been trying to use old yarn in every project this year, but the warp on this is all 17+ years old. The rose, pale pink and white are originally from a baby blanket whose owner is now a senior in high school. The red is from several baby blankets. Those kids are all mid 20s. The brown I got used in 1997, so who knows how old that is. This is a run of waffle weave towels. #weaving #FiberArts #textiles #yarn #craft #destash

@weaving@fedigroups.social @fiberarts@fedigroups.social Fresh off the loom: doublewidth throws in integrated plain weave. Still have to fringe, wet finish and brush. Since they are so big, I think I will step on them in the tub to full them. This is a destash project—which, of course, means I had to buy more yarn to actually do it. 😂 Those stripes are gifted yarns I have had for a couple of decades! If you don’t see me for a while, I’ll be fringing! 😅 #weaving #FiberArts #Yarn #Wool #craft #handmade

More flax processing tools. The left one is used for breaking the stalks around the fibers. Then there's various combs for refining the fibers. And a few for storing yarn once its spun on a spinning wheel. #Museum #Flax #Processing #Weaving #Spinning #Alanta #Craft

A member of my #lace group noticed that Piecework Magazine has a created a searchable "International #Needlework Museum Directory" that people might enjoy. Here's to our skilled foremothers. #BobbinLace #needlelace #embroidery #weaving #sewing
