Tha an teas a' tighinn — the heat is coming. Two high-pressure ridges leaning toward each other over the Gulf this weekend, the first real heat wave of the year for a South that's been spared until now. Tha an saoghal a' tionndadh — the world is turning. #Druid #Pagan #Folklore #ScottishGaelic #Gàidhlig #Seasonal #Solstice #Weather #Witch #SlowLiving ↳

We like to play a little solstice game where we guess how many different blooming wildflowers we can find around the yard. It's usually more than you would think. This year was lucky number 13. The small bouquet serves as an offering to the land spirits as part of a promise to maintain, protect, and grow the biodiversity on our land. #Solstice #Litha #Witch

RE: https://mastodon.online/@astro_jcm/111580270197140894 The #solstice is a good excuse to remind you that pinhole #photography is a fun way to track the Sun's motion on the sky 👇

1/ This is the longest exposure I've ever taken: 8 months long! It shows the Sun's path on the sky between Apr 17 - Dec 11 2018, as seen from ESO's Paranal Observatory in #Chile. This is part of a collaboration with Diego López Calvín, an expert in solarigraphy: https://solarigrafia.com Diego sent me some of his hand-made #pinhole cameras, which I placed all over Paranal. So what do we see here? See thread below 👇 #astrodon #astronomy #astrophotography #sun #photography

a beautiful, joyous, and blessed solstice to you. may the fire of the sun give us the energy we need to fight on, and may turning of the wheel remind us that all things pass and spring will come again after the darker days. going outside isn't an option here today as it's approaching 40°/104° and i'm unwell enough indoors, so here's a photo from solstice 2022. with love and light and hope, wherever in the world you are ☀️ #solstice

Sunclock.net Left: London, Summer Solstice. Right: London, Winter Solstice. Different bars are: Golden hour (yellow) > sunset (red line)> Civil dusk (light blue) > Nautical dusk (dark blue)> Astronomical night (black - none at summer solstice) > nautical dawn > civil dawn > sunrise > golden hour. Note that solar noon (when sun is highest) in summer is 13:03 because of daylight savings time, whereas in winter it is 11:59 My favourite clock. Anyway happy solstice, no I do not have a diagnosis yet. #HappySolstice #solstice
