I Was There to Document the Aftermath of Deadly Flooding. Then, It Started Raining. --- Three people died in Ruidoso, New Mexico, last year when floods swept through the area. As the mayor prioritized tourism after the flood recovery, first responders said they weren’t equipped. Our visual journalist documented the unfolding story. https://www.propublica.org/article/ruidoso-new-mexico-floods-fire?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=mastodon-post#News #NewMexico #Flood #Emergency #Fire #Disaster #Recovery #Photography #Photo

Not bad. One-half second exposure at 105mm, hand-held! But what was bad was there were a bunch of people on the Animas River bridge near my home in Aztec who are teaching their kids that it's OK to disobey police lines. The police had put up yellow "Police Line Do Not Cross" tape on the far end of the bridge due to the flooded park. Literally everyone, adults and kids, crossed the line. You couldn't go more than 50 feet further because of the flood waters. 🫤 6/x #Flood #River #NewMexico

Nice, the City of Aztec just sent out a message that we need to avoid flushing and using water because the sewer pant has been shutdown due to the ongoing Animas River flood. They haven't issued a boil water order yet, but I think I'll go buy some water, just in case. 7/x #Flood #River #NewMexico
